We have male and female clients that come from various age ranges and demographics. The common thing they all share is the recognition that Image, Etiquette or Interviewing consultations can help them reach their goals faster and with more confidence. Many of our clients have recently gone through life changes and as a result are looking to interview for a new job, discover a new and improved look or polish their etiquette to make sure they have the tools necessary to thrive in social and business settings.
Etiquette seems like an old concept. Why is it relevant today?
Civility has been watered down. People are in their own world more and do not the time to respect people in their personal space (for example by using cell phones) or have basic common courtesy to say excuse me, please and thank you. When people go out of their way to display their positive image and awareness towards those around them they will actually stand out among their peers. So much business is done over the lunch or dinner table that not having proper etiquette could easily lower your professional image and cost a deal. Likewise, countless social interactions could be significantly improved if people viewed etiquette as a necessity rather than a habit of the exclusive or privileged.
What is a simple tip you can give the job seeker who is discouraged right now?
In light of the recent economy it is also nearly impossible for a job-seeker or social-climber to feel positive in light of all they have lost or may lose. Simply holding their head up high and visualizing themselves as the strong, experienced individuals they are will give them an advantage over those who have a “woe is me” attitude.
Why is Interview Consulting important?
I was recently at a charity event where briefly chatted with a woman from Morgan Stanley who is in a high management level of the company. She told me that she knew a friend that was very well qualified for an opening they had and had a sparkling resume and personal letter of recommendation. When interviewed the girl sulked and demonstrated a significant lack of confidence. Based on this she was not asked to return for a second interview. If this personal would have received an interview consultation she would have been able to work on whatever significant issues contributed to that sense of fear. She would have walked into the interview confident and prepared and would have gotten a second interview, and positioned herself for the job.

Since most of my clients experience personal needs, I usually deal with them on a one to one basis but I also offer my services to groups and organizations who express a need.
